What is USDT?
USDT is a stablecoin issued by Tether that aims to maintain a value of about one US dollar.
USDT is used to hold dollar-denominated value within the crypto market.
Tether was founded in 2014. It issues USDT by receiving US dollars and investing its reserves in different assets, primarily US Treasury bills, before tokens circulate in the crypto market. In Q2 2026, Tether reported approximately $1.5 billion in net operating profit. The USDT dollar peg is supported by reserves, issuance and redemption mechanisms, and market arbitrage. What is a USDT liquidity pool?
A USDT liquidity pool is a way to place crypto assets in DeFi protocols to support liquidity. In return for providing liquidity, you receive a share of the fees users pay for swaps in the pool. In concentrated-liquidity protocols, you also select the price range where your liquidity remains active. Depending on the protocol, a pool uses a particular swap fee, and some DEXs offer several fee tiers when a position is selected or created.
In simplified terms: you provide USDT and a second asset to create a liquidity position → traders make swaps → you receive fees.
In simplified form, fee income can be estimated as: trading volume × pool fee × your share of active liquidity.
What to consider when choosing a pool
The page shows the main metrics needed for a quick review of USDT placement options. Pools can be compared using all the available data together.
APR
APR is an annual rate without reinvestment or compounding. Some protocols allow liquidity rewards to be claimed at any time, although doing so may require a network fee.
Daily volume
Daily volume is the monetary value of all crypto swaps in a pool. All else equal, higher trading volume can generate more fees for liquidity providers. APR is not guaranteed: it depends on TVL, daily trading volume, token prices, fees, and the share of active liquidity, so it changes continuously.
TVL
TVL is the total value of assets deposited in a pool by all participants. The relationship between daily volume and TVL helps indicate the pool’s fee activity.
Fee
A fee is the percentage a user pays when swapping tokens from the pool.
Simplified pool-yield calculation
Starting assumptions: you deposit 1,000 USDT and 1,000 USDC at a 50/50 ratio; the pool fee is 0.01%.
If you own the whole pool
A user swaps 100 USDT for USDC → the pool then contains approximately 1,100 USDT and 900 USDC, and you receive a fee of 100 × 0.01% = 0.01 USDT.
Another user then swaps 200 USDC for USDT → the pool contains approximately 900 USDT and 1,100 USDC, and you receive a fee of 200 × 0.01% = 0.02 USDC.
Your total reward is 0.01 USDT and 0.02 USDC.
If you own 10% of the pool
The total pool size is approximately 10,000 USDT and 10,000 USDC. A user swaps 100 USDT for USDC → the pool contains approximately 10,100 USDT and 9,900 USDC. The pool fee is 100 × 0.01% = 0.01 USDT, and your reward is 0.01 × 10% = 0.001 USDT.
Another user then swaps 200 USDC for USDT → the pool contains approximately 9,900 USDT and 10,100 USDC. The pool fee is 200 × 0.01% = 0.02 USDC, and your reward is 0.02 × 10% = 0.002 USDC.
Your total reward is 0.001 USDT and 0.002 USDC.
Important: this calculation does not account for slippage or price changes within the pool. Learn about these terms in the liquidity pools guide.
Advantages of a USDT pool
USDT is pegged to the US dollar. Choosing another stablecoin as the second asset can reduce risks related to token-price movements in the pool. Stablecoin pools often have relatively low swap fees, although this does not necessarily mean low yield: results depend heavily on trading volume, TVL, and the share of active liquidity. Available options are listed on the stablecoin pools page.
Pairing USDT with a non-stablecoin can increase price risk and potential yield together with the likelihood of loss. You can also compare pools with tokenized assets.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
A USDT liquidity pool is a smart contract where users deposit USDT and other tokens to enable trading on a DeFi platform.
Yield comes from trading fees and additional platform rewards.
USDT liquidity pools are offered on various DeFi platforms and decentralized exchanges.
Liquidity pools are tied to trading activity and can have variable yield, unlike the more predictable staking.
USDT is most often used in pairs with other stablecoins or popular cryptocurrencies.
Main risks include impermanent loss, smart contract risk and changes in trading volume.
